Chart Crime!!
remember when the WSJ was actually decent on economics?
People! Chart crime alert wherein the WSJ shows that babies are poor! Here’s the unlocked article.
Yes you are reading that right. Gen X and younger!! Get a friggin’ job babies!
It’s pretty insane to compare the wealth of old people to the wealth of young people. Young people take on debt, haven’t had time to accumulate savings, etc. etc.
Better to compare wealth between generations at the same stage in their life cycles. Like this:
Which shows that Gen X is right on track with the boomers, while the hybrid millennial / Gen Z group is doing better than both of the others at age 34 at least.
There’s a weird myth that Boomers have all the wealth and are hoarding it in ways that keep younger generations poorer. Like wealth accumulation is somehow a zero sum game.
But people let me tell you, the kids are alright (even though the WSJ decidedly is not).

OK, Boomer....
Goes right along with demanding all jobs pay a living wage, as if "You want fries with that" is a lifelong career, and then wondering where all the entry level jobs went.
Government sucks, it really does. People need to rely on themselves instead of political promises.
